What we’re seeing in Indian headlines connects with the United States withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan after two decades of conflict, as well as India’s troubled relationship with Pakistan. It’s a term that’s more indicative of ideological alignment than anything, which makes ascertaining the veracity of headlines less a consequence of fact-checking but one of scoring a win against your ideological opposite. With the rise of access comes an increase in hoaxes, gossip, and blatantly fake news.
This accessibility includes the ability for devs to speak directly to their consumer base and address their concerns, like what we saw last week with Apex Legends developer John Larson and the tap strafe controversy. Twitter’s role in broadcasting events as they happen has enabled consumers direct access to updates most relevant to them.
